Interesting Show

Just finished working on a show for Cirkidz. Basicly a group of kids doing the most amazing circus acrobatics. Great lighting design by Nic Mollison and a fine set design using truss by Morag. A pleasure to work with a professional group of people. Would like more pro's to come to our venue, Golden Grove Arts Centre.

Jands Dimmers

So who has had problems with Jands dimmers? We have had a few problems. mostly they get hot and the internal wiring chars and smells rather unpleasant. Also the fuse holders relly are not up to having 10amps of current pulled thru them.

Lighting Desk

Got a fairly old Jands Event Plus lighting desk that seems to give trouble. Sometimes it is the faders that need replacing, which is a pain. You have to turn the desk over, after removing all of the fader knobs. And then remove the 12 or more screws to access the guts. Then is the fun task of removing the circuit boards and then carefully de-soldering the faders. Removeing faders from the boards can be tricky and you have to be careful that you don't damage the tracks. When you relpace it you need to make sure you push the fader down firmly and then check that it sits at the right hieght. Then you can begin the task of putting it all back together, only to discover another fader needs replacing. Occasionally get a software glitch, just not game to find out what that is going to cost.

Just taken delivery of a new LSC dimmer. A very nice piece of kit.

Been looking at new lights for one of the venues I work at. Boy is there a nice range to choose from. It is nice to have a large range to choose from, but after a while it gets all to confusing. But I did notice that the price of lamps has remained static. So in real terms the price has gone down.
